The Women’s Life Center provides a wealth of information and health education programs.

The Women’s Life Center, a community education service provided by South Central Regional Medical Center, is conveniently located at South Central Place.

Speaking of Women is a monthly health and wellness education program provided by the Women’s Life Center, a service of South Central Regional Medical Center.  The program was developed to bring the most up-to-date medically accurate health information to area women and their families.  These luncheon programs are usually held at 12:00 noon, on the last Friday of each month, and conveniently located at South Central Place on 16th Avenue. The minimal fee includes lunch and all materials. Prepared Childbirth Class – Having a baby can be one of the most exciting times in life. The Prepared Childbirth Class at South Central Regional Medical Center provides the mother-to-be and her partner with the knowledge and techniques to prepare for a better birth experience. Parents-to-be are instructed in the mechanics and uniqueness of labor & birth, physical changes after birth, and the newborn. The class includes coping techniques practice and a guided tour of The Women’s Place. The class meets on the first 3 Thursdays of each month at 6:00 pm at South Central Place.  A minimal fee includes all materials. Pre-registration is required.

Sibling Preparation Class – A program designed for children three years of age and older, this class helps the sibling-to-be prepare for the emotional and physical realities of the arrival of a newborn. Activities include role-playing with infant dolls, an age appropriate video, refreshments, and a tour of The Women’s Place. The class is held every other month at 6:30 pm in the first floor conference rooms at South Central Regional Medical Center. There is no charge if delivering at South Central Regional Medical Center. Pre-registration is required.

SAFE SITTER is a medically accurate babysitting preparation program designed for boys and girls ages 11 to 13. The nationally recognized program teaches sitters how to have fun with children as well as how to recognize a medical emergency and know the appropriate action to take. Students learn how to handle specific ages, prevent problem behavior, and the business of babysitting. Safe Sitter Basic, a one-day only class, is usually scheduled twice during summer break. Registration is required.

Breast Health Education – We can arrange for this special instructional program to be presented to your civic club, social organization or work site at no charge. 

Women’s Life Conference – As Mississippi’s premier women’s health and wellness event, the Women’s Life Conference excels in offering the most up-to-date consumer health information. Held on the last Saturday in April, this day long event features a nationally recognized humorist, your choice of several workshops on vital health topics, fabulous door prizes, a healthy luncheon meal, an interactive health and wellness booth fair featuring a wide variety of health screenings, refreshments throughout the day, musical entertainment. The conference features an internationally recognized celebrity keynote address speaker! Pre-registration is required and a minimal fee includes all conference activities.
