New Medical Park to Serve Community

Representative Bobby Shows; Andy Dial, Jones County Board of Supervisors; Johnny Burnett, Jones County Board of Supervisors; Doug Higginbotham, Executive Director of South Central Regional Medical Center; and Frank Therrell, Chairman of the South Central Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, break ground at the Ellisville Medical Park.

South Central Regional Medical Center hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, August 24 for Ellisville Medical Park. When complete, the 14,489-square-foot facility will provide Ellisville and surrounding communities a variety of health care services, including Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Rehabilitation Services.

“We have served the residents of the Ellisville community for many years, and we look forward to providing additional services to the community,” Doug Higginbotham, Executive Director at South Central Regional Medical Center says. “The addition to Ellisville Medical Clinic will allow us to move Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Rehabilitation Services into permanent clinic space. It also will provide room for Pediatric Services,” Higginbotham says.

Frank Therrell, Chairman of South Central’s Board of Trustees says, “As an Ellisville resident, I am pleased with South Central’s commitment to our community. The opening is planned for March 2005.”

The ceremony served as the kickoff for Ellisville—A Celebration of Growth, an event sponsored by South Central Regional Medical Center, Howard Industries Inc., Jones County Junior College, and the Economic Development Authority of Jones County. The event included a health fair in the Jones County Junior College gym, a barbecue featuring the South Jones High School Show Choir, and a program in the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Building Auditorium. More than 500 attended the community event.
