James Hadley: 37 Dedicated Years at South Central
The
corridors in South Central's Outpatient Services Department echo
with the subtle distant beeping sound of a monitor. The place
is unusually silent and seemingly peacefulyou could hear
a pin drop on the hallway's linoleum floor. It is 30 minutes
past eight in the morning. James Hadley is busy doing one of
his usual morning routinescompiling
and organizing outpatient documents at the nurses' station.
As an outpatient orderly, Mr. Hadley holds a key position in
assisting nurses with direct and indirect patient-care activities.
He has mastered the art of communicating with patients. "We
had a busy schedule at six this morning," James says with
a smile. Not long after he said those words, he puts down the
stack of documents he was working on and goes to see a patient
who has just been called in.
Hadley Has Seen a Lot of
Change
James Hadley has served at South Central Regional Medical Center
as an orderly for 37 years. "I've witnessed so many wonderful
changes the hospital has gone through," Mr. Hadley recalls
and with warm sentiment adds, "South Central used to have
a red-brick exterior, the cafeteria used to be in the basement,
and the emergency room used to be on the first floor." Throughout
the years, James Hadley has aided surgeons and nurses with direct
and indirect patient care activities, such as changing medical
tanks, cleaning laryngoscope blades, transporting patients, transporting
medical supplies to and from other areas of the hospital, and
so much more. He has earned several loyalty awards to his merit.
"I got a silver commemorative platter for my 30th anniversary
and this bracelet for my 35 years of service," he notes,
proud of the well-deserved commendation the hospital honored
him with. "I've always loved working with people,"
Mr. Hadley says with heartfelt sentiment. His constant dedication
and sincere love for helping people has proven to be a persistent
factor that contributes to his long career. "I have been
associated with James for 22 years and have been his supervisor
for the last four years," says Director of Surgical Services
Paula Prestwood. With high regard, she goes on to note, "He
is a soft-spoken individual with a gentle touch who truly enjoys
caring for patients. With the increasing growth in our Outpatient
Services Division, James' commitment and dedication to our patients
and hospital has not waned. My hope is that James will continue
his employment for many years to come."
Someone Worth Celebrating
"I constantly get thank you cards and flowers," he
says, "and that makes me feel proud and happy about the
job I do." With tireless effort to provide better service
and care to patients. James Hadley is definitely someone worth
celebrating.
