2003 Women’s Life Conference a Success

Tony Danza, keynote speaker for the 2003 Women’s Life Conference, tells attendees how he has overcome challenges in his own life.

After enjoying a Southern Magic Luncheon and special music by Jones OnStage, all attending the 2003 Women’s Life Conference enjoyed the keynote presentation by Tony Danza. Danza spoke about ways he had personally overcome obstacles in his life.

More than 800 women attended the conference on April 26 at Jones County Junior College. Dr. Jesse Smith, Dean of Instructional Affairs at JCJC, and Allyson Scott, of Pine Belt Country B-95, welcomed all the participants to the day’s events. Comedienne and magician Becky Blaney kicked off the day with humor. South Central physicians and staff held a variety of health forums throughout the day. A health information booth fair was open between the forums. Local clinics and hospital departments provided health information.

“The conference was a great success,” says Karen Vanderslice, Coordinator of Community Education at SCRMC. “Those who attended seemed to really enjoy the day.”

Sponsors of the conference were South Central Regional Medical Center, Jones County Junior College, WDAM-TV, Pine Belt Country B-95, OncoLogics Inc., American Cancer Society, Jones County Medical Supplies Inc., Quinn Pharmacy, Jones County Medical Alliance, Wyeth, Laurel Leader-Call, Impact/Senior Lifestyles, Jefferson Medical, and Eli Lilly.
